Is organic or natural link building contacting websites personally and sending individual and personalized emails? How does google recognize the difference between organic and generated? Contacting webmasters personally is one way of link building and it mostly brings you reciprocal links. There are much better methods of generating one way links from high-traffic website to your own website.

You can submit your website to Internet directories. You can write interesting articles and distribute them all over Internet (they all should have a link to your own website). And most importantly is to create "link bait". That can be a little bit complicated, but if you create something interesting on your website, people will wish to link to it and show it to their own visitors.

Also, according to many sources online and offline it is better to build your links slowly.

I need to build 40+ links on page rank 5+ websites, The links to confirm the following
1. No link exchanges, static links only.
2. All links must be permanent from individual related website.
3. No more than 20 outbound links per page.
4. No link farms, link-exchange programs

Please let me know how do I get started with link building?

Keep in mind PR level does not make you rank better. I can prove this over and over.

Remember , if a site is a pr3, that means they are active and the pr level will increase. I had a guy refuse to do a back link with me because the site was a pr1, two weeks later it was a pr3.

As you wrote above is extremely difficult. They may not have more than 20 links now per page, but they will later. What is forever, sites come and go. You need a back link checker program.

Having multiple links from high ranking sites is also not what gives you a high pr.

Here is a great case study : http://www.123lift.com/back-safety is a PR4. It has 4 back links to that page and the home page is a PR3. It ranks in the top 3 for its main keyword on the home page. Out of the 4 back links to that page all are less than pr0! See if you can figure out why?

to get direct static links you will need someone like http://www.incywincy.com. Use the free listing.
But you can do more damage with 5 links from a pr1 that has relevant content. I can prove that as well. I out rank sites that have 400 links, pr5 and I have 15 for the same exact keyword.

Let me correct the wronger answerer above, redirects through a URL portal do NOT pass on Pagerank or SEO value, they are however followed by crawlers to index\crawl that said website.

You want absolute URLs when it comes to building backlinks, this is the only way to pass on any Pagerank or SEO weight to your site.
